The Power of Sports
We all know that a free agent may be the key to winning a championship. A free agent brings skills, talent and experience winning from a different perspective Sometimes it's a player and other times it's a manager.
Winning in business is in many ways just like winning in sports. It takes a strong product/service, people that know the game plan and have an undying desire to succeed, and most importantly know, understand, and focus on their customers. Just as teams are always on the lookout for fresh ideas that will give them a competitive advantage, very successful businesses do the same always looking for ways to attract new customers and examine current methods to find new revenue streams. The Tampa Bay Rays are well known for being one of the most innovative, data driven, new approach teams in any league. They don't do it by throwing money at a situation, they do it by outsmarting their opponents. They are never hesitant to explore new ideas to get a competitive advantage and it works! This year the Rays are projected to go deep into the playoffs and they do it with one of the lowest payrolls in baseball!

Below are major "Sweet Spot" strategies that are designed to expand your revenue streams. Each of these strategies are customized to your industry, business and most importantly your purpose/WHY.
Of all strategies this one has the greatest potential for expanding your revenue streams!
“People don’t buy what you do; they buy why you do it.” Many companies are focused on selling the features and benefits of their products. In reality, what motivates people the most is your mission and vision of what you’re hoping to achieve with your business. Check out Simon Sinek TED talk on the importance of WHY! Click here.
A well defined target audience is the key to understanding the ability to expand your revenue. Research needs to address all aspects of the audience including motivation and media usage. This research usually uncovers numerous ideas and avenues for expanding revenue streams.
Peter Drucker, one of the most widely-known and influential thinkers on management said, "The aim of marketing is to know and understand the customer so well the product or service fits him and sells itself."
Michael Jackson, the "King of Pop" knew the power of knowing his target audience. Check out this video
It has been said that "Content is King!" and in today's world content must be centered around your target audience rather than itself. It must attract people rather than interrupt them, and it’s more about them than it is about you. Content is the only thing the audience sees, not your strategy, not your media choices, only your content. It must be all about the wants, needs and motivation of your target audience!
Nielsen research reports that it takes people that are currently in the buying market to see your content 3 to 12 times (depending on your product) in order to be effective. Sports advertising, especially sports like baseball, can run the risk of getting into negative frequency and alienating people if the content is not changed strategically.
One of the best examples of content that is still remembered today is the "Hey Kid, Catch!" Coke television commercial starring Pittsburgh Steelers defensive tackle "Mean" Joe Greene. The commercial debuted on October 1, 1979, and was re-aired multiple times, most notably during Super Bowl XIV in 1980. It is still talked about today! Check it out
